Mumbai: Genpact has emerged as the largest BPO employer in the Indian IT and ITeS segment with 19,700 employees, closely followed by US-based Accenture with a headcount of 19,000, according to a study by Dunn and Bradstreet. WNS, Wipro BPO, HCL Technologies BPO Services and ICICI Onesource follow Genpact, in that order, in the BPO rankings. The study which follows a Nasscom list where Genpact leads the chart with 19,700 employees, while WNS (7,500), Wipro BPO (12,900), HCL Technologies BPO Solutions (7,500) and ICICI Onesource Ltd (8,000), respectively, takes the second, third, fourth and fifth spots. Wipro BPO and HCL Technologies BPO continued to be among the top five companies. TCS made it to the top 15 list and Infosys climbed three places to seventh position in the 2005-06 ranking, as compared to the previous year, the study said. The Indian ITes and BPO sector is estimated to have shown growth of 38.5 per cent this year at 7.2 billion dollar with an addition of 10,000 employees taking the total number to 415,000, it said. The study which profiled about 200 companies in the 2006 survey, used employee size, verticals serviced and locations of delivery centers as the listing parametres. The ITeS-BPO segment accounts for 20 per cent of the total IT industry, says Nasscom, and the segment is estimated to have grown by 38.5 per cent y-o-y to reach $7.2 billion in financial year 2006.
