Mumbai:
Software and services exports from the country have grown at a robust 32 per
cent to Rs141,000 crore ($31.3 billion) from Rs104,100 crore ($23.6 billion) during
2006-07. Electronics
and IT exports during fiscal 2007 are estimated to have grown by about 35 per
cent to Rs153,300 crore from Rs113,725 crore in FY06, as per figures released
by the department of information technology. Industry
body NASSCOM, meanwhile, expects Indian IT software and services revenues to reach
$50-billion mark in 2007-08. The industry recorded a growth of 30.7 per cent,
with revenues at $39.6 billion in FY07, exceeding earlier forecast of 27 per cent,
it said. Industry
revenues are projected to grow at 24-27 per cent in FY 2007-08. Software
and services exports grew by 33 per cent, fetching revenues of $31.4 billion in
FY07, compared to $23.6 billion in FY06. Domestic
business grew by 23 per cent, fetching revenues of $8.2 billion in FY07, up from
$6.7 million, NASSCOM said. IT
services exports have grown by 35.5 per cent, clocking revenues of $18 billion
while ITES-BPO exports were up 33.5 per cent at $8.4 billion. Engineering
services and products exports totalled $4.9 billion, growing at 23 per cent in
FY07, NASSCOM said.
