Market update: Sensex adds 57 points; Metals firm

After declining for two sessions, frontline Indian indexes have made a modest recovery today. Most other Asian markets are weak in early afternoon trading, except Shanghai which has added nearly 3 per cent.
Sensex opened at 13886 and moved to a high of 13956. The index is trading higher by 57 points at 13936 at 11.10 AM IST.
Nifty opened at 4111 and saw a high of 4136. The index is now trading higher by 18 points at 4129.
Metal stocks are doing very well in early trading. Tata Steel, Sail, Hindalco and Nalco have all added over 2 per cent each while Sterlite is trading nearly 1.5 per cent higher.
ACC is the best performer among Nifty stocks with gains of over 2.5 per cent. Grasim has added 1.5 per cent.
