Market update: Sensex rallies 169 points; Tata Steel gains 3 per cent

Frontline Indian indexes have bounced back from the decline in recent sessions, helped by gains across major global markets. Most other Asian indexes are firm in early afternoon trading

Sensex opened at 13823 and moved to a high of 13955. The index is trading higher by 169 points at 13951 at 11.10 AM IST.

Nifty opened at 4080 and saw a high of 4130. The index is now trading higher by 50 points at 4129

Metal stocks are among the best performers, led by Tata Steel which has added nearly 3 per cent. SAIL and Sterlite are trading with gains of well over 1.5 per cent each

Bajaj Auto is the best performer among Nifty stocks with gains of 3.5 per cent
