Market ends with phenomenal gains: Bank, realty stocks surge

It was a vey good trading session for the markets as they ended the day with phenomenal gains. The frontline indices closed with a gain of nearly 3%, sensex was upover 400 points and the Nifty up over 100 points. Sensex closed above 14,800 mark and Nifty around 4,300 levels. The broader markets also participated in the uptrend trackig the benchmark indices giving markets an excellent breadth.

The rally has come on the back of strong Asian cues and the Dow ended higher on Friday. All the BSE sector indices ended in green.

Banking and realty stocks were among the top gainers followed by metal, capital goods and oil & gas stocks.

ICICI Bank and SBI were the star performers up over 6%.

Top gainers on the indices are ICICI Bank, SBI, Maruti Udyog, Hindalco Reliance Energy and Zee Entertainment.

Sensex was up 417.51 points or 2.89% at 14842.38, and the Nifty up 112.45 points or 2.68% at 4302.60.
