Market ends near day's low: Oil & gas, power, bank down

The market ended near the day's low as heavy selling pressure was seen in during the final hour of trade. The cues from gobal peers were weak as most of Asia ended down. The top laggard was Taiwan down 3.5%, followed by Hang Seng down 3% and Taiwan down 2.5%. The broader markets outperformed the benchmark indices. Selling is seen in index pivotals from bank, IT, oil and gas and banking space.
Sensex was down nearly 300 points and Nifty was down 100 points by the close.
The BSE Midcap Index ended at 9,375.94 up 0.4%.
The BSE Smallcap Index ended at 12,007.33 up 1%.
Sensex was down 271.48 points or 1.33% at 20104.39, and the Nifty down 101.20 points or 1.64% at 6058.10.
About 1950 shares have advanced, 1102 shares declined, and 38 shares are unchanged.
