IIT Kharagpur to start research cell for case studies

Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSOM) at IIT Kharagpur, the first business school in the IIT system and currently ranked among the top 20 business schools in the country, has set up a 'research cell for case development (RCCD)'.
With Professor Kalyan Guin as its co-ordinator, the research cell is planning to undertake case studies in collaboration with industry. These varied cases will later be published in management magazines and journals of repute. Selective cases will also be published in VGSOM's in-house magazine and will be used for class discussion following the best tradition of B-schools.
It may be recalled that the Master of Business Management (MBM) course in VGSOM has a unique feature of an entire semester being dedicated to internship in business organisations. The studies during these internships are expected to provide rich source of case materials.
VGSOM has committed adequate financial resources in the current year to assist the RCCD to continue with its case development activities.
VGSOM synergises the latest in management education with the technical competence of IIT Kharagpur and the establishment of a research centre for case development is an offshoot of this unique blend. It also provides for an ongoing industry- academic interface.
