The Tata-Star direct-to-home (DTH) joint venture has announced the change of its name from Space TV Ltd to Tata Sky Limited. Its DTH service has also been rebranded as T-Sky..
Announcing the new names, Vikram Kaushik, CEO, of the joint venture said, "The branding of our service represents sets the stage for the launch of our DTH services as we are ready to unveil and promote our brand to the consumer".
"Our new brand name highlights the pedigree of the JV partners. It symbolizes the strength of the joint venture, the high quality services and reliability of TATA and the international know-how and expertise of Sky, the most successful DTH platform in the world".
The company expects its DTH service to become India's largest digital television platform, offering consumers a wide array of programming choices with interactive features and superior picture and sound quality.
This DTH joint venture between TATA and STAR was established in 2004 with the aim of building a state-of-the-art digital infrastructure for pay television in India.
The T-Sky DTH service will be marketed nation-wide. The service plans to offer its subscribers the best of cable channels, new innovative programming and interactive services.
