Sunil Bharti Mittal, the founder and chairman of Bharti Enterprises, has received the Harvard Business School Alumni Achievement Award, the company said in a statement Friday.

"Harvard Business School's management program helped me validate and sharpen my work towards putting together the building blocks to create one of the leading global telecom companies - Bharti Airtel," Mittal said in a statement.

Mittal, who drives India's largest telco Bharti Airtel, is a recipient of the Padma Bhushan, one of India's highest civilian awards.
