Ambanis overtake Premji in Forbes'' India rich list

Mumbai: The Ambani brothers, Mukesh and Anil, have moved ahead of Wipro chief Azim Premj, grabbing the second and third places in Forbes magazine''s ''India''s 40 Richest'' list.

According to the special report on India''s 40 richest, NRI steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal has maintained his top place with a net worth of $25 billion.

The Ambani brothers who split their business empire last year, saw their fortune swell this year with Mukesh''s assets rising to $11.5 billion and Anil''s net worth rising to $9.3 billion.

Real estate major DLF''s Kushal Pal Singh was at the fifth slot.

While Sun TV''s Kalanithi Maran, Unitech promoter Ramesh Chandra and commodities exchange promoter Jignesh Shah found a place in the list this year, tractor tycoon Keshub Mahindra and Infosys Technologies co-founder K Dinesh returned to the list and Biocon chairperson Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw exited it.
