Gulf expats co-opted onto Indian civil aviation body

Prominent non-resident Indian entrepreneur and Doha resident Cheril Krishna Menon has been nominated to the Government of India's security advisory council to civil aviation (SACCA) as an ex-officio member, according to an official communiqué.
In his new capacity, CK Menon, as he is popularly known, will advise the government on issues related to passenger security at different international airports in India, sources said.
The SACCA consists of top government officials, including secretaries of the ministry of home affairs, the ministry of external affairs, defence, tourism, the director general of civil aviation, chairmen of international airports of Mumbai, New Delhi, Kochi and the director general of Central Industrial Security Force among others.
Apart from Menon, well-known businessman and managing director of the Abu Dhabi headquartered Emke Group MK Yusuf Ali is also on the board.
They are the only non-resident Indians in the committee.
Altogether there are 30 members on the SACCA board.
Menon is the chairman and managing director of Behzad Group of companies in the Middle East, Europe and USA.
His commercial involvement stretches from Qatar to UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, South America and UK with headquarters in Doha, Qatar. His companies are mainly focused on fuel transportation by land and sea though recently he has entered the steel manufacturing business.
