Embraer 190 jet on exhibit in China air show
31 October 2006

São José dos Campos: Embraer is strikingly present at the 6th China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition, which runs from October 31 to November 5, 2006, in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, China. "Embraer in China" is the theme of the press conference to be held on October 31. And "In China" has literal meaning.

Since the Harbin Embraer joint venture began operations in 2003, sixty-six 50-seat ERJ 145 jets have been ordered - and ten delivered - for the growing Chinese market, meeting a demand that Embraer forecasts will reach 590 jets, in the 30 to 120-seat category, over the next 20 years.

Harbin Embraer Aircraft Industry (HEAI) is a joint venture formed by Embraer and China Aviation Industry Corporation II (AVIC II) in 2002. With 175 employees, this facility is capable of producing up to twenty-four ERJ 145 aircraft per year. To date, HEAI has sold 66 aircraft to four Chinese airlines: China Southern, China Eastern Airlines Jiangsu, China Eastern Airlines Wuhan, and the HNA Group. Currently, there are 16 ERJ 145s in operation in China, including five for Sichuan Airlines, produced in Brazil. Worldwide, Embraer has delivered over 960 jets of the ERJ 145 family. "We are enthusiastic about the presence of the EMBRAER 190, on its 21-week world demo tour, for the first time in China. Its efficiency, economy and contemporary engineering meet the needs of our expanding airline industry. At this air show, we are demonstrating that Brazilians and Chinese can experience the synergy that drives a successful operation," Guan Dong Yuan, Managing Director, Embraer China.

The EMBRAER 190 will be shown at the static display and will also perform a demo flight with passengers, on October 31. The EMBRAER 190 has been on a six-city tour in China, after successfully completing tours in Europe and the Americas. The specially configured 93-seat E-Jet visited Beijing, Urumchi, Chengu, Kinming, Shanghai, and Haikou.

The standard configuration of the EMBRAER 190 has 100 seats in a two-by-two arrangement. This particular dual-class demonstration aircraft is especially configured with nine premium and 84 economy seats to emphasize the versatility of cabin layouts. The airplane is equipped with a video and audio on-demand passenger entertainment system with individual TV screens at each seat.

The EMBRAER 190 is one member of a family of four E-Jet models, a new generation of aircraft optimized for the 70 to 110-seat capacity segment. It is currently in service with JetBlue Airways (USA), Air Canada (Canada), Copa Airlines (Panama), and TAME (Ecuador). The aircraft is on order with HNA Group (China), AeroRepública (Colombia), Finnair (Finland), Air France's Régional Airlines (France), GECAS (USA), Mandarin Airlines (Taiwan Region), and US Airways (USA).

"We see this decision by Finnair as a significant endorsement of our E-Jets family," said Frederico Fleury Curado, Embraer Executive Vice-President, Airline Market. Finnair's EMBRAER 190 E-Jets are configured to accommodate up to 100 passengers. The airline should receive its first EMBRAER 190 in December 2006. This aircraft comes from the conversion of two firm EMBRAER 170 jet orders into EMBRAER 190 jets, as announced in December 2005. At that time, simultaneously, the Finnish company also announced that it converted four options into EMBRAER 190 jets firm orders.

"This order will complete our European fleet. The EMBRAER jets have brought flexibility to our capacity management. With the help of the Embraer aircraft we have been able to launch new destinations and increase frequencies in our European network, which provides smooth connections to our Asian routes," says Finnair President and CEO Jukka Hienonen.
