Wipro appoints Sanjeev Jain as chief operating officer

Wipro appoints Sanjeev Jain as chief opeWipro Limited on Friday announced the appointment of Sanjeev Jain as the company’s chief operating officer (COO) in place of Amit Choudhary, who is stepping down under a top-level overhaul initiated by CEO Srinivas Pallia.

Sanjeev will report to Pallia and will continue to be a member of Wipro’s executive committee as Pallia relies on his trusted aides to bring Wipro back to the growth path. 

Sanjeev, who joined Wipro in 2023 as global head of business operations, has over 30 years of experience in leading large, diverse teams and scaling up operations.

Prior to joining Wipro, Sanjeev held leadership roles at IBM, Cognizant, and GE. 

Sanjeev has been active in upgrading Wipro’s gig work platform, TopGear, as well as playing a key role in the development and deployment of Wipro’s talent pool, including AI training and upskilling.

Sanjeev’s mandate is to build a client-focused, sustainable and profitable organisation. He will oversee Wipro’s global operations, information office, information security office, and enterprise risk management while closely coordinating with the company’s regional leadership teams.

He is also tasked with the job of simplifying Wipro’s operating model, so as to achieve  operational excellence.

Sanjeev is a distinguished alumnus of IIM-Mumbai and a certified Master Black Belt from GE.

Amit Choudhary is the second among former chief executive Thierry Delaporte’s trusted aides to leave the Bengaluru-based IT company’s executive committee, in less than two months of Pallia taking over as CEO. Chief delivery officer Ajit Mahale is the only executive associated with Thierry left in Wipro’s executive committee now.
