Reliance Big Entertainment ventures into Hollywood; lines up 69 films in 9 languages

Mumbai: Reliance Big Entertainment plans to produce Hollywood films starring some of the big names like Nicolas Cage, Jim Carrey, George Clooney, Tom Hanks and Brad Pitt, even as the media and entertainment company has lined up 69 films in nine languages for production over the next two years.
The Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group firm, which acquired 200 theatres in the US, will now co-produce Hollywood films, a territory which until now was the preserve of UTV.
For the Hollywood joint production, Reliance Big Entertainment will team up with Nicolas Cage's Saturn Productions, Jim Carrey's JC 23 Entertainment, George Clooney's Smokehouse Productions, Chris Columbus's 1492 Pictures, Tom Hanks's Playtone Productions, Brad Pitt's Plan B Entertainment and Jay Roach's Everyman Pictures.
The company has finalised the production and distribution of 69 films in nine languages over the next two years.
Reliance Big Entertainment proposes to produce the films in collaboration with leading production houses and Reliance's own in-house films unit.
The company has struck a deal with Vidhu Vinod Chopra for producing two films, including a mainstream English language film `Broken Horses'. It has also entered into a deal with Excel Entertainment promoted by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani to produce six films, including Shah Rukh Khan starrer `Don II'.
