Datapro is Nortel distributor in India

Software supplier and training company Datapro has been appointed country distributor for Nortel Networks Corporation of Canada. The Ontario-based company is world leader in Internet protocol-based data, telephony and wireless networking technologies.
Datapro will vend Nortel's products and services, including key telephone systems, EPABXs, routers, switches and network integration cards for data, voice and wireless communications, and networking integration services.
Nortel's strength lies in its unified networks, a key factor in the convergence of technologies. Says T R Srinivasan, head, marketing, Datapro, "Future requirements, due to convergence of technologies, will demand expertise in unified networks, and Nortel is ideally placed for this."
Datapro's chairman and managing director Rajeev Arora says, "Distributing Nortel''s unified network across the country is a matter of pride for us."
Datapro will unveil its unified network products in India soon. It is awaiting the results of the IP telephony experiments being conducted by the department of telecommunications and Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd, the public sector international service company. Industry estimates foresee some 2 million users of this technology by 2002. The alliance with Nortel will give Datapro an edge when the market opens up.
The $18-billion Nortel Networks (formerly Northern Telecom) has 17 production facilities worldwide. It has several trade marks like Bay Networks, Inca, Accelar, Norstar and Nortel, and spends about $2.5 billion on research and development. It has a presence in over 150 countries, and a client list comprising major ISPs, cable television networks, and cellular companies.
