LG Electronics Launches Digi Direct - India''s First DTH ready TV

Mumbai: LG Electronics India Ltd has introduced LG Digi Direct TV, India's first Direct to Home ready (DTH) TV.
India has over 40 million Non Cable & Satellite Households in India (*Source: NRS round 2, 2002). This untapped segment was the main driver for LG Electronics' strategic decision to introduce LG Digi Direct TV into the Indian market.
LG Digi Direct TV will be able to receive all 33 free to air channels including 17 Door Darshan channels and 12 radio channels including two FM channels. LG has currently introduced two models of 21" and 29" Flat.
One model each in 20" & 21" in the conventional category also be introduced in March 2005.
LG Digi Direct TV incorporates a DTH decoder with television hardware & developed a common software to enable the control of normal television and DTH function with the same remote and does not need a separate set top box.
Introducing this new technology to India, K R Kim, president South-west Asia LGE and MD LGEIL said "Digi Direct is yet another innovation from LG Electronics that is aimed specifically towards millions of consumers in India who do not have access to cable and satellite networks, particularly in the non-metro areas. Known for its technology innovation, LG Electronics has invested close to Rs1 million towards R&D for the development of Digi Direct."
