Satyam buys Caterpillar consultancy arm for $60 million

Mumbai: Satyam Computer Services Ltd has acquired construction equipment maker Caterpillar Inc's market research and customer analytics operations for $60 million in an all-cash deal, the company said in a statement.
The acquisition would support Caterpillar in segmentation, promotions, forecasting, product development and customer survey execution, Satyam's manufacturing and automotive group director and senior vice president Subu D Subramanian said.
Satyam, he said, would launch innovation centres in India, Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia Pacific to accommodate Caterpillar's market research and customer analytic requirements.
Satyam will service Caterpillar's new product development, customer survey execution and other areas, he said.
"It accelerates development of our business transformation capabilities and enhances our end-to-end business solutions - from strategy on through to BPO." Satyam chairman B Ramalinga Raju said in the statement.
The company would unlock the potential in the intellectual property and assets to offer high-end differentiated MR and CA solutions and strategic services to Caterpillar and other global customers.
