SAP's web-based HR solution for India
14 December 1999
SAP India, the leading enterprise software solutions company, has announced an India-specific and localised web-based human resources solution for India. This solution takes into account different India-specific requirements relating to provident fund, reimbursements, perks, and various legal stipulations, which had to be incorporated in SAP products by customising the company''s global package.
SAP''s web-based HR solution, mySAP.com, builds on the core of this solution, the SAP HR System. The solution enables companies to take HR services online. This includes employee self-service and recruitment modules.
In addition, the basic SAP HR solution package has been "Indianised" to meet local HR regulations, legal requirements and business requirements to serve a range of functions from recruitment to post-retirement. SAP India had commissioned the HR unit of AF Ferguson, the well-known Indian consulting firm, to study the country''s central and state legislation on the subject. Some 12 large companies in India were studied, including Ranbaxy, Bharat Petroleum, Mahindra and Mahindra, Telco and ABB.
The unique functionality of this solution includes online recruitment that allows traditional HR administrative processes like data entry, vacancy reviewing, posting jobs online and transferring personnel information in an integrated and paperless way. Another is employee self-service. That allows employees to update and maintain their own data on the company''s Intranet.
Girish Anand-Sobti, director SBU-HR, SAP South Asia Pacific said, "The India payroll solution has been made to meet specific market requirements based on feedback from companies. The solution tackles issues such as accurately calculating employee salaries, adapting to the changes in tax laws announced with the annual budgets and dealing efficiently with retrospective salary increases, pay arrears and allowance calculations."
Ruth Connolly, president, Indian subcontinent, SAP Asia Pacific says the introduction of a localised HR solution will help customers maximise employee contributions and allow them to integrate and streamline their administrative HR processes.
