Satyam sets up its first "Global Innovation Hub" in Singapore
04 October 2006
Satyam Computer Services Ltd has announced the establishment of its first ''global innovation hub'' - a facility dedicated to research and development (R&D) — in Singapore. The company will use the Global Innovation Hub to test and develop applications with technology partners in efforts to continually improve services to global customers.
The Hub houses two centers of expertise that focus on leading telecom and business intelligence (BI) technologies. The Mobile Applications center will design mobile solutions for telecommunications devices and carriers. It will leverage Singapore's state-of-the-art communication infrastructure and build alliances with key industry players.
The centre for business intelligence (BI) analytics will focus on business performance R&D, statistical and mining techniques, and analytical frameworks in a variety of industries and business processes, including telecom banking, and supply chain management. Its activities will include customer data integration, real-time "locational" analytics, and a revenue assurance framework. The centre will drive innovation in new areas of business and technology, and optimise value delivered to Satyam''s customers.
Virender Aggarwal, director and senior vice president, APAC and MEIA, Satyam Computer Services. "The Global Innovation Hub is a pioneering, entrepreneurial step in Satyam's constant journey to innovate, while ''shock-proofing'' our customers'' future. Its establishment is a reflection of our comprehensive offshore methodology, the eSCM standard for ITeS companies, and the fact that Satyam is among the first 10 companies to attain CMM Level 5. The hub demonstrates Satyam''s commitment to its customers, and our eagerness to capitalise on opportunities that arise".
Satyam will staff the hub with assistance from the Singapore Economic Development Board, which is providing access to students and graduates of the country''s educational institutions. The board is also enabling Satyam to recruit participants in industry forums, conventions, and exhibitions.
"Singapore features several unparalleled advantages that make it a logical and extremely strategic location for the company''s global innovation hub," says Aggarwal and adds. "First, Singapore is linked to several regional universities, a benefit that provides excellent access to superior human talent—the main building block of the hub. Additionally, many global corporations have a strong presence in Singapore. Their proximity will enable Satyam teams to reach out to new and existing customers more easily. Likewise, we can work with our technology partners to develop and test applications for worldwide deployment."
