Vascon unveils expansion plans for Marisoft, Pune's IT park

Pune: In the first significant development in the construction and real estate sector in Pune city since Union Budget 2003-04, Vascon Engineers, a leader in industrial and commercial projects, has announced its expansion plans for the group's Rs48-crore software park, Marisoft, here.
Marisoft is a joint initiative between Vascon Engineers and Manisha Constructions. The second software technology park from Pune, certified by the central government, Marisoft already houses the leading business process outsourcing (BPO) major, Msource, and the software development major, Parametric Technologies Corp (PTC), in the first two phases of the project.
Marisoft, the fastest-growing software park in Pune, is all set to enter its third phase of construction with a unique concept of walk-to-work for its IT clients. Spread over 5 lakh sq ft at Kalyani Nagar in Pune, Marisoft will be completed in the coming financial year. As part of its expansion plans, coming up in the third and fourth phase is an ultra-modern health club, shopping mall and entertainment park with recreational facilities for the software park.
Marisoft already has fibre-optic connectivity system from Tata Teleservices Maharashtra Ltd for voice-data, video conferencing and high-speed communication links, access control, AC management, and optimum networking facilities. A complete residential complex inter-linked with Marisoft is coming up to facilitate walk-to-work kind of concept.
Vascon has invested nearly Rs10 crore on the first phase of Marisoft. The total cost of the Marisoft project has been estimated at Rs48 crore spread over a time frame of two years.
Says Vascon Engineers managing director R Vasudevan: “Over the past few years Pune city has witnessed impressive growth in the IT sector with several foreign multinationals setting up their BPO units. Marisoft marks our specialisation in the development of software parks. Marisoft has received a very encouraging response from the IT companies. It had a good start with companies like Msource already going operational in its very first phase of development and Parametric coming up rapidly.
