Bangalore: WeP Peripherals has acquired a majority stake in Select Technologies, a city-based enterprise networking and network security products, solutions and services company.
This is the second major acquisition by WeP in two years. WeP is the spun-off peripherals division of Wipro Infotech and became a separate corporate identity in September 2000.
Select Technologies will now be a subsidiary of WeP Peripherals, with WeP transferring its own networking and storage business to the company.
Says WeP Peripherals managing director and CEO Ram Agarwal: This acquisition is in line with WePs strategy of 3 circles of change, of growing in networking / communication, storage and convenience / personal mobility products and services.
He adds: Select will be able to leverage on WePs reach and presence in 17 locations with 250 direct partners and 12,000 resellers across India. Select will now be the networking, network security and storage arm of WeP.
WeP Peripherals already enjoys a leading market share in Impact printers, UPS and laser printers and has identified networking and storage as another new growth area.
