New Delhi: Yahoo! India, the leading Internet communications and media company, has announced its tie up with Spice Telecom, Punjab's premier mobile service provider. Spice Telecom subscribers in 165 cities and towns across Punjab can now avail of Yahoo! India's state-of-the-art ''Yahoo! for SMS'' mobile applications.
Yahoo! India's mobile offerings like Yahoo! Messenger, Group SMS, Mail, Logos, Ring Tones, Cricket, Astrology, Photo SMS, Jokes, Blink and Flash SMS, World Timings and a host of other services for SMS will now be available to Spice Telecom users.
Yahoo! India has similar existing relationships with other leading cellular operators in the country like Huch, Airtel, RPG Cellular, Oasis, Escotal. This tie-up with Spice Telecom thus marks Yahoo! India's presence in the state of Punjab with regards to mobile service offerings.
The ''Yahoo! For SMS'' offerings for Spice subscribers will include the highly popular Yahoo! Messenger service. This enables mobile phone users to communicate via SMS with any of their friends on their Yahoo! Messenger buddy list. The offering allows users to communicate seamlessly and instantly across the PC and mobile phone devices without having to log in from a computer.
Says Yahoo! India director (sales and business development) Neville Taraporewalla: "Yahoo! India has been pioneering the mobile Internet revolution in the country and the tie-up with Spice Telecom is a significant step in this regard. The unique range of services offered by Yahoo! to mobile users like Yahoo! Mail and Messenger for SMS, ring tones and logos will now be available to the people of Punjab."
