New
Delhi: The Securities and Exchange Board of India
(SEBI) chairman, G.N. Bajpai, will meet the finance minister,
P. Chidambaram, here on Monday.
Indications
are that the Budget proposal on levy of 0.15 per cent
tax on transactions entered in a recognised stock exchange
would figure in the discussions.
A
number of market players have been expressing apprehensions
over the proposed levy. After the Budget proposals for
2004-05 were
announced, the broking community had met the SEBI Chairman
to express their concern over the transaction tax to be
levied on all securities transactions.
