Mumbai: The
government has declared that the services in the banking industry
as a public utility service under the Industrial Disputes Act will
be extended to six more months from September 19.
According to a labour
ministry notification, bank employees will, among other things, be
required to give notice to their employers six weeks in advance if
they are planning a strike so that conciliatory proceedings could
be started.
Employees are not
supposed to go on strike during conciliatory proceedings.
