Chennai: Officers of nationalised banks are planning
to strike work on 29 August 2002. Members of All India
Bank Officers Confederation, All India Bank Officers
Association, Indian National Bank Officers Congress
and National Organisation of Bank Officers are to take
part in the one-day strike. The strike is to highlight
their demands for a better wage agreement.
It
is learnt that the representatives of the four officers
organisations had informal discussions with the Indian
Banks Association in Mumbai recently, when the latter
is understood to have expressed its inability to concede
their demands.
Union
sources say some of the long-pending issues, such as anomalies
in the last wage revision, halting allowance disparities
and income tax on perquisites, remained unresolved despite
repeated reminders.
