New
Delhi: The World Bank is hosting its Annual Bank Conference
on Development Economics (ABCDE) in Bangalore on the theme
of Accelerating Development.
The
two-day conference beginning 21 May 2003 will have eminent
scholars and practitioners from around the world presenting
new research findings and discussing key policy issues
related to poverty reduction. The ABCDE conference has
been held annually in Washington since 1988, and for the
past couple of years a similar conference has been held
each year in Europe.
Beginning
with this years conference in Bangalore, each of
these conferences will be held in a developing country
every other year, reflecting the growing importance of
research done in developing countries and the need to
bring such conferences closer to participants in the developing
world.
