Mumbai:
In exercise of the powers conferred by the Employees Provident
Fund (EPF) and Miscellaneous Provision Act, 1952, the
Central Government recently appointed Mr. Ashwin Dani
representing the Federation of Indian Chambers and Industry
(FICCI) on the Central Board of Trustees of the Employee
Provident Fund via an official notification published
in the official Gazette. The Central Board of Trustees
governs the employees Provident Fund which is a fund of
Rs. 140,000 crores. It has been vested with the responsibility
of implementing the Employees' Provident Fund Scheme,
the Employees' Pension Scheme and the Employees' Deposit
Linked Insurance Scheme.
The
Employees' Provident Fund Organisation, India, is one
of the largest provident fund institutions in the world
in terms of members and volume of financial transactions
that it has been carrying on. The Organisation functions
under the overall superintendence of the policies framed
by the Central Board of Trustees, a tripartite body headed
by Union Minister for Labour as Chairman. The Chief Executive
Officer of the Organisation is the Central Provident Fund
Commissioner, who is also a Member of the Board and its
Secretary.
Mr.
Ashwin Dani is the Vice-Chairman & Managing Director
of Asian Paints (India) Limtied. Asian Paints (I) Limited
is India's largest paint company and ranks among the top
ten decorative coatings companies in the world. Some other
important positions held by Mr Dani are, he is a member
of the Executive Committee of the Federation of Indian
Chambers of Commerce and
Industry (FICCI), New Delhi. FICCI is one of the important
representative organizations for Corporate India. He is
also the President of All India Organisation of Employers
(AIOE).
