to pick up stake in PSU banks

Mumbai:
The Asian
Development Bank (ADB) has said it is willing to pick up stakes in
public sector banks if the government offloads its stake in these
banks.
“We are interested in
picking up stakes in some state-run banks,” ADB officials said.
“We are looking for other multilateral financial institutions
like the International Finance Corporation for investing in public
sector banks.” It is the policy of the bank not to invest in any
company alone.
The
bank officials said they are also interested in participating in
the divestment programme of the public sector units. In this
regard, they have sounded out the divestment department of the
government informally. But the department has not made any
specific move so far.
