31 October 2001
Mumbai:
Former MD of the
State Bank of India (SBI) V Janaki Raman will be appointed CMD of
Centurion Bank. His appointment has received SBI’s and RBI’s
clearance; the Indian government’s clearance is now awaited.
According to SBI’s
internal code of ethics, a senior-level official
who retires from the SBI and wants to join another bank has to
take the clearance from the SBI and the
Indian government. Siddhart Sitholey, CEO of Development
Commercial Bank, was
to take over as the MD of Centurion Bank, but that did not work
out. The previous managing director, K Subbaiah, had
resigned from the bank for personal reasons.
