When to go: The best time to visit Tadoba would be between November to June. Though the park remains open even during the monsoons, spotting wildlife would be difficult in the rains.

How to get there:

By air: Nagpur is the nearest airport linked to major cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai. From there, taxi and jeep services are available.

By rail: Chandrapur is the nearest railway station and is about 30 minutes away from Tadoba.

Where to stay: The MTDC resort provides decent rooms and has a restaurant serving meals and snacks throughout the day.

A few golden rules:

1. One needs to book the safaris in advance.
2. To get a better view of wildlife, a pair of binoculars is a must.
3. A camera with a SLR feature is required to capture the beauty of the wild.
4. Since it can get quite hot during the game drives, carry plenty of  water.
5. A torch would help one get to one's rooms from the main restaurant, post sunset.

Everything comes at a cost:

1. Cost of the rooms at MTDC: Rs1,500 per night.
2. Meals are priced reasonably and are independent of the cost of stay.
3. Entrance fees to the park need to be paid on the spot, which is around Rs100-200.
4. Each tour will roughly cost around Rs1,800 per couple. However the cost comes down if one is travelling in a large group.
