New Delhi: Computer hardware exports more than doubled from last year's Rs 600 crore to Rs 1,250 crore this year, according to the ministry of information technology's provisional figures. But exports to the US and Canada fell by over 88 per cent, from Rs 299.85 crore to Rs 72.25 crore. In fact, the share of exports to the US and Canada accounted for just 6 per cent of the total exports as against 41 per cent the previous year. Exports to Singapore and Hong Kong, however, rose by over 186 per cent and stood at Rs 1,154 crore. The surge in exports was mainly because of the rise in demand for items like head stacks, computer parts, scanners, SMPS, data entry terminals, dotmatrix printers and LAN cards.
