H-P engages Lucent executive as CEO
Palo Alto: Hewlett-Packard has named Carly
Florina, a top executive of Lucent Technologies, as its new president and chief executive
officer.Florina, 44, had earlier worked as a
secretary at Hewlett-Packard when she was a Stanford student. She has been ranked ahead of
Oprah Winfrey in Fortune magazine's list of most powerful women in US business.

New Delhi: Consequent on the appointment of
Piyush Mankad as finance secretary, Javed Choudhary as secretary, health, and A.S. Sarma
as secretary of department of economic affairs, the government has moved Y.N. Chaturvedi
from the welfare department as secretary in the information and broadcasting department.
The other officers transferred are A.K. Agarwal as
secretary (coordination) in cabinet secretariat, A.R. Nanda as secretary, department of
family welfare, J.N.L. Srivastava as special secretary and mission director, Technology
mission on oil seeds and P.K. Bannerjee as chief commissioner, investments and NRIs.
