Devi Dayal on IDBI board
New Delhi: Devi Dayal, special secretary for
banking in the ministry of finance, has been appointed director on the board of the
Industrial Development Bank of India. The
appointment took effect from 22 July 1999.

Barclays has a new CEO
London: Barclays, the British bank, has
named Canadian-Irish banker Matthew Barrett as its new chief executive. Mr Barrett is at
present chairman and chief executive of the Bank of Montreal. He succeeds Michael O'Neill,
who left Barclays in April on health grounds.
Barclays has been headless since April and chairman Peter
Middleton has been acting as chief executive. Mr Barrett has been working for the Bank of
Montreal since he was 18. He will receive 5 million a year, a pay deal similar to Mr O'Neill's.
