Bimal Jalan gives up posts in bank institutions
Mumbai: Reserve Bank of India governor Bimal
Jalan has decided to step down from the presidentship of three banking sector training and
appointment institutions -- National Institute of Bank Management, Indian Institute of
Bankers and Institute of Banking Personnel Selection. The idea is to encourage greater autonomy to banks.Mr Jalan has already stepped down from the position of president of
NIBM. He is handing over charge of the presidentship at IIB to State Bank of India
chairman G.G. Vaidya. He is also expected to step down from IBPS soon. He will continue to
be a member of the three institutions.
