Bimal Jalan gives up posts in bank institutions
Mumbai: Reserve Bank of India governor Bimal Jalan has decided to step down from the presidentship of three banking sector training and appointment institutions -- National Institute of Bank Management, Indian Institute of Bankers and Institute of Banking Personnel Selection. The idea is to encourage greater autonomy to banks.

Mr Jalan has already stepped down from the position of president of NIBM. He is handing over charge of the presidentship at IIB to State Bank of India chairman G.G. Vaidya. He is also expected to step down from IBPS soon. He will continue to be a member of the three institutions.
