Spic Petrochemicals MD quits
Chennai: K. Govindarajan, managing director of Spic Petrochemicals, has resigned from the company. The parent company, Spic, said in a press communiqu that Mr Govindarajan has left on personal grounds.

R. Alaguvel, director (technical) has been asked to hold additional charge of the position. Mr Govindarajan will continue to be a director on the Spic board.

Gates to donate $1 bn for scholarships
Seattle: Microsoft chairman Bill Gates plans to donate at least $1 billion to fund full college scholarships for minority students. This will be by far his biggest charitable contribution.

The Gates Millennium Scholarships will cover room, board and tuition for at least 1,000 high school students a year over the next 120 years in fields of education, mathematics, engineering and science.
