Dilip
Chhabria to design for Ford India
Mumbai: Dilip Chhabria, well known car
designer and stylist, has been engaged by Ford India to
design special edition Ford cars and add-on kits for its
cars in India.
Mr Chhabria will design
and build special edition cars for Ford, with launch dates
in June 2000. He plans to start with Ford Ikon, the new
Ford product that has just been announced. The design
unit is expected to be near Ford's manufacturing facility
at Maraimalainagar near Chennai.

Udayan
Bose to exit forex business
Mumbai: Udayan Bose, co-promoter of Lazard
Creditcapital, has decided to sever his ties with equity
broking business Merwanjee Securities. He is also considering
parting with his forex business.
Harlow Butler, the largest
forex broker in the world, owns 51 per cent in Lazard
Creditcapital's forex operations.

Gates
is second most powerful man in UK
London: Bill Gates has been adjudged
as the second in a list of 500 people with greatest control
and influence over British life. The list has been compiled
by the Sunday Times. Prime minister Tony Blair,
of course, leads the list.
The paper said Mr Gates
has influence over the people of Britain as his software
runs 90 per cent of all computers in the country. Alan
Greenspan, chairman of the US Federal Reserve, and Rupert
Murdoch, chairman of News Corporation, come next in the
list, relegating the royal family and religious leaders
to the fringes.

Pearson
CEO on AOL board
New York: Marjorie Scardino, chief executive
of Pearson, the UK publishing and media group, will join
the board of America Online. Pearson, which owns the Financial
Times and other media interests, has said investment
in internet-related activities is now the group's top
priority.
Ms Scardino's appointment
is seen as a sign that closer strategic ties between AOL
and Person are being planned.
