Ex-Indian Bank CMD charge-sheeted
Chennai: M. Gopalakrishnan, former chairman
and managing director of Indian Bank has been charge-sheeted by the Central Bureau
of Investigations in a case relating to alleged irregularities in sanctioning a loan to
two businessmen in 1990. Three others have also been charge-sheeted by the CBI in this
case.According to the CBI, Mr Goplalakrishnan, A.V.
Shanmugasundaram and P.L.K.R. Srinivasan, former assistant general managers of the bank,
and D. Natarajan, an agriculturist, had conspired to cheat the bank and obtained undue
pecuniary benefits. Another accused in the case, T. Nageswara Rao, has since died.

Baijal is divestment
dept secretary
New Delhi: Pradeep Baijal is the secretary of
the newly-formed disinvestment department. An IAS officer of the 1966 batch, Mr Baijal was
a special secretary in the power ministry.
