Pallavi Jha is chief of Walchand Capital
Mumbai: Pallavi Jha is the new chairperson of Walchand Capital, a
Walchand group company. The family members of the group have reached an understanding
under which Ms Jha will be the chairperson. All the family members on the board of the
company -- Ajit Gulabchand (Hindustan Construction Company), Rajas Doshi (Indian Hume Pipe
Company) and Harshavardhan Doshi (Ravalgaon Sugar) have resigned from the board and Ms Jha
has reconstituted the board. The new directors are M.N. Bhagwar, Dr S.C. Jha and Sanjay
JhaThe company plans to focus on e-commerce related
business activities.

Goldenson is dead
New York: Leonard Goldenson, the only surviving founding father of
Americas "Big 3" TV networks, died at the age of 94. He is credited with
such hit shows like the "Roots" and "Happy Days" on the American
Broadcasting Corporation.
Mr Goldenson was board chairman of ABC and pioneered
the concept of movie studios making TV programmes. He had bought ABC at $25 million in
1951, when he was president of United Paramount Theatres. ABC had been a fledgling second
tier Blue Radio Network of National Broadcasting Corporation until 1944 when it was taken
over by Ed Noble and rechristened American Broadcasting Corporation.
