IIT, Chennai gets Rs 6 cr from alumnus
Bangalore: S. Gopalakrishnan, deputy managing director of Infosys Technologies, has donated Rs six crore to the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai. Mr Gopalakrishnan is an alumnus of the institute.

Coca-Cola recalls officer from retirement
Atlanta: Coca-Cola says it is recalling one of its senior black executives, Carl Ware, from planned retirement to take control of its newly created global public affairs division. Mr Ware’s sudden decision to quit in 1999 had sparked off a controversy touching on racial discrimination. He is expected to assume responsibility for the company’s communication tasks worldwide. Mr Ware, who has some 26 years of experience in the company, including its African operations, and has co-chaired an internal group set up to defuse tension over racial discrimination, had announced his decision to quit after being neglected during a recent round of promotions.
