San Francisco: Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple Computer, who was once
ousted from the company in 1985 but was named interim chief executive officer sometime in
1997, will be chief executive officer of the company now. It is apparent that the
companys search for an alternative has not yielded any result. He told a gathering
at the Macworld Expo trade show that he is going to drop the word "interim" from
his title. Responding to a standing ovation, he said he will nevertheless use iCEO to
signify his companys thrust on the Internet.
