Mr. V Thyagarajan to head Glaxo
India
Mumbai: Mr V. Thyagarajan, former area
director (Asia-Pacific), GlaxoWellcome, has taken over as its vice-chairman and managing
director Glaxo India. Mr Thyagarajans tenure comes into effect from January 1, 2001.
He succeeds Mr. Homi Khusrokhan, who was managing director, Glaxo India until December 31,
2000.
Mr. Thyagarajans new responsibility at Glaxo India is in addition to his recent
appointment as head (South Asia), GlaxoSmithKline, heading pharma majors operations
in Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. This follows the global merger of GlaxoWellcome and
SmithKline Beecham. Mr Thyagarajan is also the designated head of the proposed merged
entity GlaxoSmithKline India.
Mr. Thyagarajan joined the company as a management trainee in 1970. He has earlier served
as the managing director of Glaxo India, prior to being moved to Singapore as area
director. Mr. Thyagarajan brings with him rich and varied top management experience of
working in India, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.
