Sebi to probe Morgan Stanley in price
swings
Mumbai: The Securities and Exchange Board of India
(Sebi), is probing the role of select foreign institutional investors and domestic
financial institutions in the "unusual" price movements of pivotal scrips in the
pre-Budget and post-Budget sessions this year. It is reliably learnt that among other
FIIs, Morgan Stanley will come under close scrutiny of Sebi. The regulator is trying to
decipher unusual movements (which are not directly linked to fundamental or economic
factors) and see if some entities have been "artificially influencing stock prices
and thereby affecting healthy price discovery," Mr. L K Singhvi, a senior executive
director of Sebi has said.
