Sebi to probe Morgan Stanley in price swings
Mumbai:
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi), is probing the role of select foreign institutional investors and domestic financial institutions in the "unusual" price movements of pivotal scrips in the pre-Budget and post-Budget sessions this year. It is reliably learnt that among other FIIs, Morgan Stanley will come under close scrutiny of Sebi. The regulator is trying to decipher unusual movements (which are not directly linked to fundamental or economic factors) and see if some entities have been "artificially influencing stock prices and thereby affecting healthy price discovery," Mr. L K Singhvi, a senior executive director of Sebi has said.
