package enhanced by about 25 per cent to $16.7 million in 2000, according to the company's
annual filing with federal regulators. Mr. Welch, who joined GE in 1960, was paid $4
million in salary and a $12.7-million bonus. He also received 3 million GE stock options,
which can be exercised after his retirement.
