Canara Bank to get new chief
Bangalore: RV Shastri
has been appointed as the new chairman and managing director of Canara Bank with effect
from May 1, thus replacing Mr. RJ Kamath who has retired. Prior to this appointment, Mr.
Shastri was the chairman and managing director of Indian Overseas Bank.
He began his career as an economist with
the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), after which he entered the banking industry as a
probationary officer in Punjab National Bank in 1968.

BankAm India to get new chief
Mumbai: With the
retirement of its incumbent chief executive, the Indian operations on multinational bank,
Bank of America, has got a new chief executive in Vishwavir Ahuja.
Mr. Ahuja has taken over with effect from
May 1, 2001.
Prior to this, he was head of corporate
and investment banking group, Bank of America, in the country.
