The non-executive chairman of
British Gas India is CR Prasad
New Delhi: CR Prasad, the former chairman and managing director of Gas
Authority of India will be the new non-executive chairman of British Gas India.
British Gas announced this on Tuesday.
The responsibilities entrusted to him are forging partnerships for BG India to further the
growth of its existing business interests - Gujarat Gas, Mahanagar Gas and the proposed
Pipavav Liquefied Natural Gas import terminal - and for identifying new market
opportunities for the group in India, a company statement said.
British Gas India, a 100 per cent subsidiary of BG group, is developing an integrated gas
infrastructure in India. It is a 65 per cent shareholder in Gujarat Gas Company with
transmission and distribution operations in Surat, Ankleshwar and Bharuch in southern
Gujarat.
It is also building a gas distribution operation in Mumbai via Mahanagar Gas, a 50:50
joint venture with Gail.
In addition, BG India is also developing a LNG importation terminal in the port of Pipavav
in Gujarat with partner Sea King Infrastructure.
