Gordon Moore retires from Intel
board
Santa Clara (California): The Silicon
Valley legend Gordon Moore has retired from the board of Intel Corporation. He will
continue serving as chairman emeritus and director emeritus but will no longer hold any
voting power.
Three years before co-founding Intel Corp
in 1968, Gordon Moore predicted the number of transistors on a silicon chip would double
every year. On Thursday, the Silicon Valley legend retired from the board of directors of
Intel. Former federal communications commission Reed Hundt was elected to the company's
board
Moore said he intends to remain at least as active in the company as he has been since
giving up the chairmanship title in 1997.
Moore and Robert Noyce founded Intel on July 18, 1968, shortly after leaving Fairchild
Semiconductor. Noyce died of a heart attack in 1990.

Hind Lever to induct more
non-executive directors
Mumbai: In order to comply with the corporate governance code Hindustan
Lever Ltd, HLL, is planning to increase its board strength to include more non-executive
directors.
The company has nine directors on board,
of which five are company executives while the restHomi Khusrokhan, Deepak Parekh,
CK Prahlad and V Narayanare outside directors.
In a notice to shareholders, HLL says it
wants to have a composition whereby the number of executive directors and non-executive
directors are equal.
Khusrokhan, who has taken over as the
managing director of Tata Tea, is expected to step down and HLL is expected to induct at
least two more outside directors.
