Organisational revamp at Discovery
leads to staff unrest
New Delhi The proposed organisational
restructuring at Discovery channel linked to its plans of joining the Sony-led bouquet of
channels has led to some unrest with the staff.
Now there is talk of at least three top executives
contemplating an early exit from the channel. The apparent reason is brewing discontent
over the proposed structuring of marketing operations.
It is reported that the head of marketing Ms Ambika Srivastav has decided to quit the
channel, though official sources refuted the reports.
Sources said that the new MD Deepak Shourie, who took over
the popular natural history channel recently, has found the going tough as the revamp
plans are being resisted by some of the senior employees.
Meanwhile, the cable distribution circles are abuzz with talk of a common bouquet
involving Sony, Max, CNBC, AXN, Discovery and Aaj Tak.
