Jagdish Capoor may be the next chairman of HDFC Bank
Mumbai
—Reportedly, HDFC Bank has approached Reserve Bank of India deputy governor Jagdish Capoor to take over the post of non-executive chairman of the private bank.
Capoor is due for retirement at the end of this month and is in charge of exchange control, industrial and export credit and cooperative banks, among other things.
HDFC Bank has been without a non-executive chairman since SS Thakur retired in December 2000. Since Thakur’s retirement, the board has been functioning by electing one of the directors as the chairman in each of its meetings.
