Countdown for Air India privatisation begins
New Delhi
: By clearing the draft shareholders agreement and stipulating terms and conditions under which the airline’s management would be handed over to the strategic partner, the government seems to have begun the countdown for the privatisation of the country’s international airline, Air India.

These terms and conditions have been framed without compromising on security, interest of employees and the company’s social obligations.

The government, however, took no formal decision on the fate of the Hinduja bid — which is facing disqualification due to the Bofors case — as formal guidelines on eligibility of bidders is awaited.
