Petro to get new chairman today
KolkataHaldia Petrochemical
Ltd. is expected to get a new chairman when the board of the Rs
5,170-crore venture meets on Thursday. The man tipped to take over as
executive chairman of Haldia Petro is Dr Bhaskar Banerjee, who is now
the senior managing director of the Rs 3,000-crore Duncans Group of Mr
GP Goenka.
Government sources said Dr Banerjee has the support of all the three
major stakeholders in Haldia Petro the West Bengal government, the
Tatas and The Chatterjee Group (TCG) of the US-based non-resident
Indian, Mr Purnendu Chatterjee.
Mr Tapan Mitra is
expected to step down as chairman at the forthcoming meeting on
Thursday, at which the results for the year ending March 31, 2001 will
be discussed, as well as a restructuring of the loans that are
burdening the project.

Telecom Ltd CEO may be out
MumbaiGuru Hariharan, CEO, BSES Telecom Ltd., may be on his way
out. Although rumours were denied by the company, sources said it may
be possible. New areas such as education that BTL has forayed into of
late, have not done well, which is being attributed to Mr Hariharans
lack of vision.
